As in previous years the success of this show is dependant on the willingness of M&DMC members to commit to helping in the preparation and running of the event. Your assistance (great or small) will be very much appreciated. Here are some of the activities which require your help: PREPARATION 1. Paddling Pool weed clearance To keep this task manageable the pool needs 2 clearing sessions. The first during the next week or two and a final session just prior to the show. 2/3 hours of your time is all that is required. Please let Richard Phillips know if you are able to help on either (or both) sessions. You only need to bring a spade and of course wellies. Contact Richard on 01664 812453 2. Lancaster Models This year we intend to add two more Lancasters to the flying display. These are built but need covering. Simon and Arthur Askew require assistance with this. It will done in our clubroom on Wednesday evenings if weather is unsuitable for flying and other evenings as required. Can you help with this? If so please call Simon on 07779 723704 or 01664 859596 3. Show Setting Up This will be done on Friday 24th September from 2pm. Help is required to erect marquees , erect crowd line barriers and signage, fill in rabbit holes on flying area, put out litter bags. Contact Trevor Main on 01664 568134 if you can help DURING THE SHOW WEEKEND This is the time when we need as many volunteers as possible so that we can organise rotas and keep volunteer time to a minimum. We need volunteers to "man" the Information Stand. This involves handing out Club Information, selling raffle tickets and taking donations. Even if you can only spare a couple of hours your assistance will be greatly appreciated. We also require volunteers to help run some of the proposed attractions e.g. assisting Flight Line Director, Model Flight Simulator, Model Bombing Competition, Guess the Aircraft Height Competition, Slot Car Racing, Model Boats on the Paddling Pool, Static Model Display officials. Contact Trevor Main on 01664 568134 if you can help on either (or both) days. SUNDAY, AFTER THE SHOW Please dont leave it for a few members to clear up aft the show. We need to dismantle the marquees and crowd barriers, collect litter bags. This doesn't take long if we have enough volunteers. CAR BOOT SALE As an additional "family" attraction we are proposing to have a small Car Boot Sale. This will be stricltly for members cars only and will be limited to a small number of cars. Anything can be put up for sale (not just models) with a percentage of the receipts to be donated to The Club. Contact Dave Peet on 01400 282308 if you are interested in participating. |
